The Laboratory of Control and Automation has organized the 1st ELVITEN workshop together with Municipality of Bari, which has been held in Bari on 13rd April in the Council Hall of the Metropolitan City of Bari.

ELVITEN (Electrified L-category Vehicles Integrated into Transport and Electricity Network) is a project co-funded by the European Commission under the Horizon 2020 programme (Grant Agreement no. 769926). It consists in providing the creation of transport services through the use of light electric vehicles such as bicycles, scooters, tricycles and quadricycles, with the aim of promoting a new and integrated city mobility system that can positively affect air pollution, traffic, parking and security.

The city of Bari has been identified as one of the six European pilot cities where the ELVITEN project will organize demonstrations of the potential and presentations of the progress.

During the workshop, Prof. Maria Pia Fanti, Eng. Alessandro Rinaldi, Eng. Bartolomeo Silvestri (researchers at LCA) and Eng. Luigi Ranieri (City of Bari) have presented the strategies to be implemented within the urban areas of Bari for the diffusion of the L-category electric vehicles (EL-Vs) in order to replace 'traditional' petrol vehicles.
The idea is to propose ICT tools, support services and incentive policies to implement a safe, comfortable and simple use of these vehicles through replicable schemes.
